Kui

Kui is an afro-optimist and gender equity champion who believes that for the African continent to truly rise, all people regardless of gender (or any other social construct), must be given the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. As a teenager she watched a news story of a woman who had been doused in petrol and set alight by her jealous husband. This grave injustice propelled her to become a passionate advocate for women’s rights and gender equity more broadly. Every day Kui works in subtle and explicit ways to change this reality of social injustice and uplift the status of women. Kui has a PhD in Health and Social Care, having focused on household gender relations and child health for her PhD thesis. Professionally she works as a gender and health systems researcher. She is also a co-founder of the Kenya Women in Health Alliance, an association that purposes to mentor, uplift and amplify women in health.
