Tian Johnson

Tian Johnson is a queer African activist and founder of the African Alliance, a global non-profit working on a range of health rights issues. Tian takes an intersectional approach to social justice. Their work spans advocacy for the rights of marginalised communities, sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, white supremacy culture and decolonisation of the development sector and serves as International Civil Society Observer on the Robert Carr Fund. With a current focus on COVID-19 and its social impact, Tian serves the South African Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19 vaccines, the African CDC Vaccine Delivery Alliance, is a founding member of the Vaccine Advocacy Resource Group working globally to ensure that vaccine research is accountable, transparent and community-owned. Through these roles, Tian is committed to solving the unprecedented challenge of equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines on the African continent as soon as they become available.
