Fellows in the News: Oct 2023

  1. ElsaMarie D’Silva, an Aspen New Voices 2015 fellow and her organization Safecity won the CogXAward for Global Goals Impact.
  2. Edward Mabaya, an Aspen New Voices 2016 Fellow received the highest honor from the African Association of Agricultural Economists as a Distinguished Fellow for making “extraordinary contributions to the field of agricultural economies and agribusinesses across Africa.”
  3. Phyllis Omido, an Aspen New Voices 2017 Fellow received Sweden’s Right Livelihood Award for protecting East African communities’ environmental and land rights. This award is seen as the ‘Alternative Nobel.’
  4. Elijah Addo, an Aspen New Voices 2021 Fellow, has been selected as a 2023 honoree for the Humanitarian Awards Global which recognizes change-makers, NGOs, SDG advocates and more.
  5. Ifeoma Malo, an Aspen New Voices 2022 Fellow is a finalist for the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum Awards.
  6. Naadiya Moosajee, an Aspen New Voices 2019 Fellow, and co-founder of WomHub has received the Women in Tech Africa “Most Disruptive Award” by Women In Tech South Africa.
  7. Maymunah Kadiri, an Aspen New Voices 2021 Fellow has been recognised as “2023 Most Influential People of African Descent” by MIPAD, among other incredible leaders and change-makers in the category of Global Top 100 Healthcare and Wellness Edition.
  8. Ahmed Kura, an Aspen New Voices 2018 Fellow, has been named as a “Hero” by the Government of Kenya and has awarded him with the “Head of State Commendation” in recognition of the continuous contributions Kura has made for the people, specifically in Marsabit and Samburu Counties.
